September 2024 – Taming the Duck Curve With V2G

September 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

A major problem with solar power is that the time of generation does not match up with time of use. This results in what is called the duck curve where there is an over abundance of power mid day and heavy power use in the evening. Batteries are used to store the day excess and give it back in the evening. This adds additional cost to effective use of solar systems.

But what if your vehicle’s battery could be used to bridge the supply/usage gap? You’ve already paid for the battery; all you need is the connection.  Vehicle to Grid (V2G) does not need to be used just to supply emergency power during a blackout. V2G has the potential to help both home solar and the utility grid.

Come hear Jose Torre-Bueno of the Center for Community Energy tell us how this could work and legislation moving forward so that all EVs will be V2G capable.

Please RSVP on MeetUp so we can plan for pizza.
