The traction battery in an EV represents 40-50% of the vehicle’s value. Knowing its health is important when buying or selling a used one. Knowledge is also useful when getting close to warranty expiration.

For October, we will hear from Smartville, A Carlsbad company that makes a battery pack testing kit that provides insights on electric vehicle battery’s health. Their PeriscopeTM supports a wide range of EV makes and models, delivering battery diagnostics on both in-vehicle and extracted batteries. It offers EV battery testing with in-depth analysis, including state-of-health evaluations at the cell, module, and pack levels using OEM Battery Management System (BMS) data.
